Lift Scale Warning Letter (Capacity)

Recently, Charder has been made aware that some users may be combining Lift Scales with Lift Systems that have a lower capacity.

For example, a Charder MHS2710 Lift Scale with a maximum capacity of 300 kg might be connected to a Lift System with a maximum capacity of 175 kg.

Although there is no problem with the Lift Scale, this may result in two problems:

1) Maximum capacity of Lift System exceeded
If the operator sees that the capacity of the Lift Scale is 300 kg, they might assume that the entire system can lift 300 kg, where in fact that only applies to the Lift Scale. If the Lift System's capacity is in fact lower than that, there is the risk of overload.

2) Unable to re-calibrate
Annual re-calibrations of medical scales are mandatory in many countries. However, to calibrate a 300 kg scale, you may need to load it with up to 300 kg of standard weights. If the Lift System is unable to reach that capacity, then re-calibration or inspection cannot be completed, and the Scale may be temporarily blocked from use!

To avoid such scenarios, please be sure to confirm that the Lift Scale's capacity (found on the product label) is within the maximum capacity of the Lift System.
